Jensen Lewis is laughing on the inside.

Royals 6, Indians 5.

Where do I begin? Can we say epic meltdown? Or is it not so epic when it has happened time and time again this season? Well I was wrong on some of my predictions, but possibly only one. The Indians did score some runs for Cliff Lee and they did score all of them while he was in the game. What I wasn’t wrong about, but looked like I was going to be for oh, say 8 1/3 innings was that the Royals were going to win. I’m thinking I might have been right in predicting Cliff Lee melting down too. Even though we didn’t witness it, my gut tells me while Jensen Lewis is laughing on the inside, Cliff Lee is losing it at the exact same time.

Ok, so I’m not saying I blame Wedge for bringing Wood in to close the game, I mean that’s what you do with a guy you’re paying 10 million a year and who hasn’t gotten much work this year. But I do have proof that I thought Cliff Lee had complete game stuff tonight and even suggested leaving him in. Here’s what I said on twitter during the game:

-Cliff Lee looks like he has complete game stuff tonight, but they're not paying Kerry Wood 10 million to not come in the game.

-Damn, despite what I just said, I think you gotta bring in Lee to finish this thing off.

-Ok, looks like Lee's night is over, that is ok too, but I think he was in a groove. KWood can mow 'em down in the 9th. (This edit I’m making right now: not so much.)

I’m not claiming to be a know it all, I’m just saying that I thought Lee was in a groove. He breezed through the 7th and 8th innings and appeared to only be getting stronger.

Here are some things that caught my script “I” during the game:

-I liked seeing Asdrubal Cabrera hit leadoff again.

-Tonight the leadoff hitter (Cabrera) lead off three different innings. What’s the big deal you say? Well normally this doesn’t happen, but it is something I’m going to start to watch. In a case like tonight, it would definitely benefit the Tribe to keep Cabrera up there, hitting over .300 like he is as compared to Grady and his .219 average. That’s three chances that I feel better about getting off to a better start to an inning. This is my captain obvious fact of today, but it is something not talked about too much that I find interesting, that or I just have no life, maybe it’s a little of both.

-I found Brian Bannister’s blue glove intriguing.

-LaPorta struck out in four pitches in his first at-bat. Not really a big deal tonight as he would later get an RBI single, but just an example of a rook’ beeing too aggressive.

-Ben Francisco made a nice throw from Center to nail Mark Teahen at third, walked and later scored from first with two outs on Matt LaPorta’s RBI single. That was an example of great, aggressive base running. That along with the outfield assist, will help you get more AB’s. Nice effort overall by the much criticized (at least on a certain message board) Ben Francisco, keep it up Ben.

-Sportstime Ohio’s Alltel Text poll. How fast can you text l-a-m-e? Tonight’s question was: Should umpires be fined if they make a bad/wrong call? You could answer with a yes, no, or it depends on how bad the call was. Since when did bad calls become not so bad? The last time I checked a bad call was a wrong call, and usually the only way it could affect your team was negatively. Tonight’s text poll = fail.

-Mark Teahen recorded his 15th career hit vs. Cliff Lee and then homered in the 9th off of Kerry Wood to bring the Royals within one run at 5-4. This kid looks like a hitter, just not as much as another guy I’m going to talk about later.

-Brian Bannister, Gil Meche, and Zack Greinke have combined to allow only two home runs all year. These just so happen to be the pitchers the Indians will be facing this series. Well now they only have to face Meche and Greinke after tonight. Well to have any luck at all, you have to experience some bad luck first right? Doh!

-Shin-soo Choo also had a nice outfield assist to nail Alberto Callaspo trying to stretch out a single into a double.

-Mike Jacobs looks like a bad man, not only did he battle by fouling off multiple pitches and ultimately won the battle vs. Kerry Wood by homering to make it 5-3, the guy just looks like a bad ass. He has that power hitter stance, the stance of a guy you want with you at a bar if someone starts with you in your boys, or in a back alley, or in an MMA cage, or in….well you get my drift, even after shaving his goatee, the guy looks intimidating.

-The Noxema sign and the light up scoreboards and other advertisements on the outfield walls were pissing me off. It made the ball harder to see coming off the bat.

-Grady Sizemore struck out and helped to kill an inning that started with two bunt singles with no outs by hitting into an unconventional double play. Sizemore out at first and Luis Valbuena was gunned down at home trying to score from second as a result. Grady, Grady, Grady. It just looks like it’s not going to be his year.

-If there are guys you didn’t think were still in the majors, check with the Royals roster first to confirm it. I.e.: Willie Bloomquist.

-This Royals lineup is nowhere near what their record shows. Once their pitching comes down to earth, so will their place in the standings.

-Eric Wedge said moving Asdrubal Cabrera to leadoff wouldn’t be a permanent move. I would say to Eric that if he wants his job to be a little more “permanent”, to keep him there.

-Why is there usually no one smiling during the Allcare Dental and Dentures smile cam?

-I just thought I would include this since I wrote it in my notes….Cliff Lee looks like he has complete game stuff tonight.

-45% of the people who had nothing better to do than answer the Alltel text poll and make Matt Underwood happy said yes, umpires should get fined when they make a bad call. Don’t you feel like you learned a great deal today now?

That’s all for tonight. Back at it tomorrow. I will have a preview before the game. Tribe Time has been replaced by need a drink time this year. Goodnight all, come back and read me again sometime.
