Indians @ Royals, Wednesday May 20, 2009
Tonight I’m going to try to write as the game is being played, or at least during breaks, we’ll see. For starters, I just want to say in a non-Indians related rant, it pisses me off that Sean Elliott said on The Herd with Colin Cowherd today that he thinks the Magic have a better roster than the Cavs, yes I’m biased but c’mon! Seriously? I guess when you are Sean Elliott you have to say things like that for people to remember who you are. I tried to find if Sean Elliott was doing any NBA analysis for anyone, but came up empty.
It’s one thing when Charles Barkley picks the Magic, and even for him to make that pick is turrible Ernie! I think Sir Charles is jealous of Lebron, and will always be bitter that he is ringless, at least on his hand, maybe not so much on his phone. I’m sure his fave five are calling all the time for gambling advice and to find out if there are any cool new mixed drinks he would recommend. Ok, back to baseball.
Things that made me go wa-hoo…..or wa-who? During the game or throughout the day, or as I was writing this. Things can be good or bad:
-Another Grady Sizemore strikeout was the beginning to a horrible ending in the 1st inning as Victor lined out to Gil Meche who then doubled off AstroCab at 2nd to end the inning. Really? This kind of start goes perfect with last night’s end.
-Fausto is wild to start the game and where the hell is David Dellucci? Two effing games in a row now? Wtf Wedge? Don’t you know by now that Dellucci is the line to Jamey Carroll’s Mendoza?
-Mike Jacob’s picture on yahoo sports looks a little like Rob VanWinkle’s mug shot: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7623. Nothing says bad-ass like a triangular villain-esque soul patch.-I don’t understand why pitcher’s are concerned about the runner at first with two outs? Especially when you’ve already walked three hitters in the first two innings.
-I was able to catch the Cavs game just in time to hear that Dwight Howard’s field goals during the playoffs have been 45% dunks. He’s not superman, he’s the Cris Carter of the NBA.
-The Indians’ bats are quieter than a monk at the Playboy Mansion tonight.
-Vince McMahon to the Pepsi Center: “you’re firrrrrrrrred!”
-Captain Obvious statement of the night: not turning a double play, to quote Austin Carr “9 times out of 10” will come back to bite you in your ass!
-Sizemore should be in the bottom third of the lineup.
-Indians answer back in the top of the 4th getting two runs, keyed by none other than Victor Martinez.
-I guess regardless of who is in left field, it has become an obstacle of course. I’m waiting for a carnie to be out there pretty soon, saying c’mon man, it’s only $1 to play, I’ve got Def Leppard, Journey, and Twisted Sister square mirrors you can win if you catch a fly ball.
-Fausto is still wild.
-I heard Luis Isaac pranks the Tribe’s bullpen, and when someone answers, he sings “Kiss me thru the phone…bring up Jon Meloan….da da da da dat dat, don’t you miss Casey Blake’s bat…”
-Matt Underwood’s favorite word is disparity.
-They aren’t wearing them tonight, but the Royals powder blue jerseys are the nicest in baseball.
-Carmona went six innings tonight like I predicted earlier, I was just wrong on the “good” part.
-Ben Francisco reminds me a little of this guy, from one of my favorite movies of all time: http://www.flickr.com/photos/vigiem/2828827467/
-Like previously mentioned, not turing two, this time, will make the Royals even more blue, wow, Grady almost killed the inning, but the Indians tie after getting two with the bases loaded, one of those runs given to them by a bases loaded walk issued by Jamey Wright.
-I’m liking ¾ of our 1-4 order in the batting order.
-John Buck just did his best Curtis Joseph impression.
-Normally Betancourt, or any reliever for that matter, coming into a two-run game and giving up a run, wouldn’t be a job well done, but in this year’s version of the bullpen it’s the equivalent of a no-hitter.
-Holy shit, the Cavs lost!
-I would pitch around Mike Jacobs right now.
-Kerry Wood is channeling Fausto Carmona.
-Wow, sticking with Kerry Wood with the bases loaded and one out.
-Actually, what Matt Underwood called a wicked curveball, looking more like a hanging one to me that Wood was lucky Teahen watched go by.
-Man, Bob Wickman thinks Kerry Wood is too dramatic. Got the job done tonight though, almost got my prediction dead on. Indians 6, Royals 5.
-My predictions 1-1
