Carl Pavano vs. Zack Greinke

First off I want to say that in my preview I stated the Indians needed to win today to salvage the season. What I meant was they needed to win today in order to salvage any remaining hope for this season. The Tribe cannot afford to lose anymore series to divisional foes at this point in the season. Game three from the show me state. I’m looking for Carl Pavano to show me something today.

Here are some things that stood out, much like that you gotta ciabatta commerical. Again things can be good or bad because bad thinks that commercial sucks. For new readers the below contains things that happened during the game, and anything I thought about not related to the game during the game. I digress, here are those things:

-AstroCab continues to shine in the leadoff role starting off the game with a single off Greinke.

-Leaving a runner on third will probably be costly against Greinke.

-I wonder if getting your engagement ring for free would be worth the horrible memory of your wedding day being rainy and shitty? In this economy, probably. (For those not watching on STO, see Alvin’s Jewelers)

-I was just a fool to believe Carl Pavano would have another good game, even despite…..he’d like the win.

-Back to back innings with a runner stranded on third for the Tribe, and we’re only going into the bottom half of the second.

-Luis “Valboa” Vilbuena got a hit, today just might be the day to buy that lottery ticket or bet on the Pirates-Nationals game.

-Nice way to bring in that runner from third, in the third, by Victor, hitting in the third hole, in this, the third game of this series.

-Insert Shin-Soo Choo in the above paragraph in place of Victor, but without all the number three references, except for the third inning one.

-This is bullshit: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/MLB-pulls-Chief-Wahoo-off-Cleveland-s-09-Stars-?urn=mlb,164637

-Two bases loaded jams in the last 4 innings going back to last night, zero runs scored. Not a good place to be, but a gritty job to say the least by Wood last night and Pavano today.

-Pavano has got it together a bit, 7 k’s through 5 innings now, maybe I’m not looking so foolish.

-Vikings over the Bears 20-0, errr wait a minute.

-Hold on a second, I just realized I’m actually 2-0 in game predictions and the Indians record is 1-1 during my blogs, rookie mistake.

-I’m still waiting for someone to call Bruce Drennan and ask him why he hasn’t done any post game shows after important Indians games (insert evil laugh). I think Dave Parsons said he’s up to the task.

-This new lineup is coming through big time, Cabrera, Victor and Choo are looking very comfortable in their new slots, too bad it took almost 40 games to come up with this combo.

-I swear Jhonny Peralta suffered some kind of dramatic experience in April as a child or was dumped at some point in April by a girl before he was considered a major league prospect. Pirates fans see Adam LaRoche.

-I knew someone in the Kansas City Royals organization was reading this blog, they sported the powder blue jerseys today.

-Luis Vizcaino pitches a scoreless inning on top of Luis Vilbuena getting a hit today, proof that impossible is nothing. Although for KG, getting to the Finals this year is impossible. To quote Chelsea Handler, “suck it Boston, suck it hard!”

-I bet Bruce is gonna be “peeved off” if the White Sox do end up getting Peavy.

-Remember those beads Asdrubal Cabrera used to wear? I wonder if Kaz Tadano somehow got into the clubhouse at Progressive Field and mistook them for, well, something else.

-I had to wipe egg off my face last night after the Cavs game but I’m still not going to apologize to Sean Elliott just yet, and certainly not to Charles Barkley.

-If there is ever a Tombstone 2, I think Trey Hillman should replace Val Kilmer: http://www.japantimes.co.jp/images/photos2007/sp20070219sea.jpg

-It’s too early yet, but the way this new batting order is gelling, it just might save Eric Wedge’s job. The Indians didn’t exactly face three chumps for starting pitchers this series.

-I think if Zack Greinke grew a playoff beard it would look like Sidney Crosby’s playoff beard. Sorry beard, I know I just did you a disservice, but I’m a fan of Casey Blake, so I think we’re cool.

-Who did Kyle Farnsworth’s tattoos, Mr. Met?

Well it looks like the Indians are gonna win this rather easily. My predictions will now move to 3-0, while the Indians are now 2-1 since I started this blog. Maybe this blog can be used as a rally cry to save the 2009 season, much like the cardboard cut out of the woman owner of the Tribe in Major League in the fictitious 1989 season. I’m just not sure what can be removed from here after each win, but I’ll figure something out.

It got a little interesting in the bottom of 9th, but hell that’s what’s supposed to happen this year. Final score Indians 8, Royals 3. Now it’s off to Sucksinatti for the annual battle of Ohio. I still think it should be the Pirates the Indians play every year, instead of the Red, but then again, I’m not sure how good I’d feel about the Jolly Roger possibly being raised on the Tribe. That’s all for now, for any questions, comments, concerns or utter disdain for the author, email me at
