Cleveland Indians vs. St. Louis Cardinals

Cliff Lee vs. Chris Carpenter

I just heard that there will be no John Miller on the ESPN broadcast tonight, nice! The Indians are looking to take their third, yes you read that right, third series in a row for the first time all year. I’m looking forward to Cliff Lee vs. Albert Pujols and to see if Pujols can add to the three home runs he already has in this series.

Things that caught my script “I”:

-Brendan Ryan from the Cardinals looks a little like Rob from MTV’s Rob and Big.

-I’m not a big fan of the block “C” hats or the cream uniforms for that matter. Throwback or not, I think in 2009 all uniforms should have the players names on the back.

-Right on cue, Mark DeRosa hit’s a two-run homer as the ESPN crew was talking about his trade speculation. In my opinion the Indians can’t afford to trade him just yet with this injury riddled lineup. And by the deadline I think the Tribe is going to be closer in the standings. If the Indians start to get some guys back and they are hitting (I.e. Sizemore and Cabrera), then that could be a different story if we could get a quality arm for maybe DeRosa and a prospect or two.

-Imagine how big of a star Grady Sizemore would be if he had the personality of say Nick Swisher. Grady’s in-game interview with the ESPN crew seemed to be the last thing on earth he wanted to be doing at that moment.

-That being said, in-game interviews should be eliminated forever.

-Not to get carried away with the look-alikes, but Chris Carpenter kinda looks like Dane Cook with a hat on, and I bet Carpenter is funnier.

-It’s only the fifth inning, but I might just be covering a no-hitter tonight.

-No facial hair for Kelly Shoppach and he’s slapping the ball over all the place, his solo homer puts the Indians up 3-0.

-Is Hideki Irabu now a bat-boy for the Cardinals?

-Strangely I’m more excited for the Cardinals to come up to bat again than I am watching the Indians hit at this point.

-Going into the 7th with a no-no, does Cliff Lee pitch to Albert Pujols or pitch around him? The result: a little of both as Pujols flies out to Choo in foul territory. Lee is in the zone.

-Cliff Lee’s no hit bid is broken up in the 8th by Yadier Molina’s double, it’s been a fun ride to this point nonetheless.

-Lee ends up giving up three hits in a complete game effort, striking out six and walking two. Indians 3, Cardinals 0. Next up, the Milwaukee Brewers and Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn bobblehead night.

Cliff Lee was dealing tonight, no-hitter or not and the Indians have won their third straight series. It’s been beaten to death but this division is still up for grabs, hell, even the Pirates took two out of three from Detroit this weekend. I would build my team around the gritty lefty from Arkansas when it’s time to start thinking long-term. Just as his pitching was tonight, his trade possibility should also be untouchable.
