Okay, so maybe I was a little too quick to draw conclusions in the last post. Certainly, the win over the Bucks was much-needed and should have provided a boost to the team's psyche and morale. However, after further investigation of the Cleveland Cavaliers' game against the New York Knicks on Wednesday, I have come to this conclusion: the team simply stinks. But how can anyone argue with that given the results? Giving up 63 points to the Knicks in the first half is simply inexcusable and would certainly seem to disprove coach Mike Brown's deep obsession with a defense-first attitude. Either that or the team has stopped buying into his system, which also would not be surprising. Sooner or later, fans might have to come to terms with the realization that the Cavs, their beloved 'Bron & Co., is one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference.
Easily the most dysfunctional team in all of the NBA, the Knicks simply manhandled the Cavs, embarrassing them in all facets of the game. LeBron James was once again the star of the show, scoring 32 points to go along with 8 assists and 6 rebounds. However, only he and Drew Gooden were in double figures for the Wine and Gold.
The Cavs come back home tonight to face the hot Los Angeles Lakers. The Cavs currently have three losses by 25 or more points, two behind the league-leading Knicks. With Cleveland's history in back-to-back games (it isn't good), expect the possibility for that number to be four by the end of the night to be quite good.
How beneficial it was for Sasha Pavlovic and Anderson Varejao to sit out all of training camp as well. Each scored seven points. For Anderson, that's actually a normal night. For Sasha, just more headaches.
